ANFANG are wizards of angst conjuration.

ANFANG is a dancy, riff-heavy rock band from Chicago, formed in August 2018. The trio consists of Andi Zaragoza on vocals/rhythm guitar, Christian Newman on bass/lead guitar, and Cam Buhrmaster on drums.

In September 2024, they released their EP APOLLYON, showcasing a blend of moody atmospherics and gritty grooves.

ANFANG’s sound has been and continues to be influenced by the unrivaled heavy-hitters Royal Blood, Death From Above 1979, and Queens of the Stone Age. This influence results in a raw yet sophisticated edge, creating energetic rhythms and captivating choruses that resonate with deep and unsettling emotion.

ANDI ZARAGOZA

Born and bred a musician’s daughter, Andie Zaragoza has been singing since she was 5 years old. Although a dilettante multi-instrumentalist, she’s been writing her own songs since she was 13 and now regards herself as the lyrical lovechild of Poe and Yorke.

CAM BUHRMASTER

Cam joined Anfang in February of 2024. He has an extensive drumming background with bands that have taken him to venues all over from Whisky a Go Go to House of Blues and Cubby Bear. He was a section leader for the Purdue Drumline back in college adding to his technical drumming abilities. Some of his biggest drumming influences, Taylor Hawkins and Stewart Copeland, come through in his drumming to add a powerful intensity yet intricacy to ANFANG’s sound.

CHRISTIAN NEWMAN

Hailing from the verdant wilds of West Virginia, Christian Newman shreds bass with style and panache. While not melting faces with sick riffs, he enjoys spending time with his cat, Mr. Choochers. Also his wife. And his daughter, too. Among his influences are Coheed, Thrice, and The Fall of Troy.
